Mozambik Menu and Prices in South Africa

Explore Mozambik chicken, seafood, prawn, calamari, combo and sharing platter choices with dated Gateway delivery price examples and practical meal budgets.

Mozambik chicken and seafood dishes served together on a table

Mozambik's menu is built around chicken, prawns, calamari, fish, grills and curries. The choice can be enjoyable for a mixed table, but the sections overlap. A quarter chicken can be ordered alone, with calamari or with six prawns. A platter may be easier for two people than separate seafood mains. Looking at what each dish contains is the simplest way to avoid paying twice for the same part of the meal.

The prices in this guide are examples from the Mozambik Gateway public delivery menu in Umhlanga, checked in September 2026. They are not a national dine-in price list. Other branch listings show some of the same amounts and occasional differences. Delivery fees, service fees, availability and branch updates can change the checkout total. Select your restaurant and order channel before using these figures to decide.

These unusually precise cents are what the selected delivery listing displayed. They do not imply a stable national restaurant price. A promotion, branch change or platform adjustment could change them. Check which sides, sauces and drinks are included in the live product description.

How to read this broad menu

Start by choosing a main direction: chicken, fish, prawns, calamari, red meat or curry. Then decide whether you want one protein or a combination. A combo is useful when you genuinely want variety; a single main may be better if one ingredient is the reason for your visit.

Next decide who will share. A platter for two is presented as a complete shared option, while a single quarter chicken is one person's main. A large seafood portion can sometimes be divided, but confirm its sides before assuming it will feed a whole table.

Finally, count drinks, sides, dessert and any delivery charges. The R250.10 combo is a menu line, not necessarily the complete delivered dinner. If you are dining in, use the restaurant's current menu instead of transferring a platform price to the table.

Starters worth understanding

The Gateway delivery listing includes chicken livers at R96.38, giblets at R107.36, squid heads at R107.36, starter calamari at R132.98 and a trinchado rump starter at R140.30. Calamari with chouriço and olives is R152. These are different textures and flavours, so a price ranking alone does not tell you which starter to share.

Chicken livers or giblets suit diners who enjoy richer offal. Squid heads and calamari are seafood choices; ask how they are prepared if you prefer grilled rather than fried food. Trinchado is a saucy meat dish, and the starter version is a smaller way to try that style before a separate main.

If two people both plan seafood mains, one shared starter may be enough. Two R132.98 calamari starters would add R265.96 before the main courses. A single portion can give both diners a taste while leaving room and budget for the meal they came to order.

Rissoles and wings as small plates

The same Gateway listing shows three chicken rissoles at R84.18, three prawn rissoles at R96.38 and three peppadew-and-cheese rissoles at R89.06. A group could order two varieties and share, but three pieces of one kind do not give every person much when the table is large.

Wings are listed as four for R84.18, eight for R145.18 and twelve for R201.30. The larger portions lower the menu price per wing in that branch's delivery examples. Four wings are R21.05 each when rounded, eight are about R18.15 each and twelve about R16.78 each. This comparison assumes the same preparation and no different included extras.

Order by how many people want wings, not only by the lowest unit cost. Twelve wings can be wasteful for two diners who will also eat large mains. Four may be enough as a taste before chicken or prawns.

Quarter, half or full chicken?

A plain quarter chicken is R131.76 on the checked Gateway delivery menu, a half chicken R225.70 and a full chicken R389.18. Two quarters would total R263.52, so the half is R37.82 less than two separate quarters at those examples. Two halves would total R451.40, while the full chicken is R62.22 less. These calculations compare chicken menu lines only; sides may differ.

The quarter is sensible for one diner or for someone adding a starter. A half chicken can work for a hungrier person or two lighter eaters when there is a side. A full chicken is a group order or a plan for leftovers. Ask how it is cut and what comes with it before assuming every size has identical sides.

Different bastings can appear as separate products. The Gateway listing showed a quarter chicken with BBQ basting or dry rub at R119.56, plain quarter chicken at R131.76 and Zambeziana quarter at R143.96. Those branch delivery figures show that sauce choice can change the price. Confirm the current flavour and heat level.

Chicken and seafood combinations

The quarter chicken with six medium prawns is R250.10 at Gateway. A quarter chicken with calamari is the same listed amount. If you want to try seafood but still want chicken as the main anchor, either combination is easier to budget than buying a full chicken and a separate seafood main.

A half chicken with six medium prawns is R340.38, and half chicken with calamari is also R340.38. Compared with the R250.10 quarter combos, the half versions are R90.28 more. That step is mainly useful if the quarter portion would be too small for the diner.

Do not assume all six-prawn portions are identical across dishes. A combo's sauce, side and plating can differ from a standalone prawn order. Read the live description. For an allergy, seafood and chicken may be prepared in shared areas; ask the branch about handling.

Fish mains and Zambeziana options

Hake is R157.38 in the Gateway listing. Hake Zambeziana is R170.80. Fish of the Day is R225.70, with a Zambeziana version at R237.90. These amounts are for the selected delivery branch and may change with the fish offered or the way it is prepared.

Hake is a useful choice if you want fish without prawns. Ask whether the dish is grilled or fried and what side accompanies it. The name “Fish of the Day” cannot tell you the exact species or availability in advance; ask the restaurant when that matters.

The Zambeziana variation is R13.42 above the plain hake in this example. That is a sauce and preparation decision rather than a larger fish portion. If you are choosing it for flavour, confirm the current sauce ingredients and heat level.

Calamari mains and combinations

Main Calamari is R256.20 on the Gateway delivery menu. Calamari and livers as a main is R193.98, while calamari with chouriço and olives is R299. The three names suggest very different plates. The lower mixed livers price does not prove it contains the same calamari amount as the dedicated main.

A calamari and six medium prawns combination is R250.10. Hake and calamari is R268.40. If you want two seafood types, compare these with the dedicated calamari main. The R6.10 difference between Main Calamari and the calamari-and-prawn combo is too small to decide without knowing the portions.

Calamari can be fried, grilled or sauced depending on the dish. Ask how the selected item is prepared. A fried calamari delivery order may soften during a long journey, while a sauced preparation travels differently.

Medium and queen prawns

Ten medium prawns are R218.38 and twenty medium prawns R384.30 at Gateway. The larger portion costs R165.92 more for ten additional prawns in those examples. That can be useful for sharing when both diners want prawns, but ask about sides and sauce before treating it as two complete meals.

Six queen prawns are R274.50 and eight queen prawns R347.70. Queen and medium are size categories, so comparing only the prawn count is misleading. Six larger prawns can be a different experience from ten medium ones. Ask the restaurant about preparation and how much shell work to expect.

If someone at the table has a shellfish allergy, the broad seafood kitchen needs a direct conversation with the branch. Choosing chicken from the same menu does not by itself guarantee separate equipment or safe preparation.

Hake and prawn choices

Hake with six medium prawns is R268.40 at the checked branch. Hake with calamari is listed at the same amount. The plain hake is R157.38. The prawn combination is therefore R111.02 above the plain fish example, although sauce or sides may also differ.

This is a useful pair of choices for someone who knows they want hake. If prawns sound appealing, take that route. If squid appeals more, choose the calamari combination. There is little value in ordering a separate prawn starter solely because the combo table feels confusing.

For two diners, one hake-and-prawn combo and one plain hake total R425.78 before drinks and fees. Two hake-and-prawn combos total R536.80. A seafood platter for two is R559.98 and offers a different variety. Compare what the table will actually enjoy.

Espetadas and grills

An espetada is food served on a skewer. The Gateway delivery examples show a chicken espetada at R193.98, chicken-and-prawn espetada at R242.78 and beef espetada at R280.60. A skewer can make the protein mix easy to see, but it does not tell you which side is included. Read the full item before ordering.

The chicken-and-prawn espetada is R48.80 above chicken alone and R37.82 below the beef version in this branch listing. Choose by protein preference. Somebody wanting seafood with chicken may find the mixed skewer more direct than a chicken main and separate prawn order.

Other grill items, including pork ribs, may appear at the selected restaurant. One Gateway delivery example listed a kilogram of pork ribs at R548. That is a large portion with bone weight. It is not directly comparable with a 100g or 200g boneless steak price.

Curries and a meat-free direction

The Gateway listing shows Chicken & Prawn Curry at R218.38. Other branch listings show Chicken Curry around R181.78, Prawn Curry around R256.20, Vegetable Curry around R145.18 and a Vegetable and Halloumi Curry around R181.78. Those additional figures are branch delivery examples rather than Gateway national prices; confirm the selected restaurant.

A curry is a useful choice if you want sauce and a rice-style meal rather than a grill. Check the current side and spice level. A vegetable curry may contain dairy or share equipment with meat, while halloumi is cheese. Ask about ingredients if you need a vegan or allergy-safe meal.

Do not assume the same curry sauce or size across chicken, prawn and vegetable versions. The named protein and portion matter. If the table wants a mix, order a curry alongside a grill or platter rather than buying two almost identical curries.

Seafood platter for two

The Seafood Platter for 2 is R559.98 in the Gateway delivery example. The listing describes calamari, ten medium prawns, grilled hake and fried squid heads. At the listed menu price, it is R279.99 per person if split evenly, before fees and drinks.

This platter is useful when both diners like several seafood textures. One person who dislikes calamari or squid heads may not get a fair share of value. In that case, two individual mains can be easier to tailor.

Compare the platter with two R250.10 calamari-and-prawn combos, which total R500.20. The platter costs R59.78 more and adds hake and squid heads, but the portions are not identical. The decision is about variety and sharing as much as price.

The mixed sharing platter

The Sharing Platter for 2 is R671.00 at Gateway. Its delivery description lists calamari, six medium prawns, half chicken and beef espetada. Divided equally, the menu price is R335.50 each before fees or drinks.

This is a broad table choice for two people who both eat meat and seafood. It may also give three lighter eaters a taste, but it is explicitly sold as a platter for two. Ask about sides before counting on it as a complete dinner for more people.

The R111.02 gap over the seafood platter buys a different composition, including chicken and beef. If the table came for prawns and fish, the seafood platter is more focused. If one diner wants chicken or beef, the mixed platter can prevent the need for separate mains.

Kids meals and sides

Public branch delivery menus show children's choices such as fried chicken strips at R84.18, a crumbed chicken prego at R105, prawn spears at R115.90 and calamari tubes at R120.78. These are branch examples; the current kids range and what each meal includes should be checked at the selected restaurant.

Side orders seen on another public branch listing include chips, plain mash, vegetables, coconut rice and salad at R42.70 each, with a Portuguese roll at R18. A Zambeziana sauce side was R48.80. Because these figures come from a separate branch listing, do not add them to a Gateway main and call the result a confirmed Gateway price.

Ask which side already comes with a main or kids meal. Ordering a second side by mistake wastes money and can leave more food than the table needs. The same applies to sauces: a named Zambeziana dish may already have the flavour you wanted.

A meal for one on different budgets

A quarter chicken at R131.76 is one of the more accessible checked Gateway mains. Plain hake at R157.38 is another direction. Chicken espetada at R193.98 costs more but changes the presentation and protein portion. These amounts exclude a separately priced side, drink and platform charges when those apply.

If you want two flavours, the R250.10 quarter-chicken-and-six-prawn combo or quarter-chicken-and-calamari combo gives a clear step up. The difference from plain quarter chicken is R118.34 in this branch example. Buy the combo because you want seafood, not because it sounds more complete.

For a prawn-focused meal, ten medium prawns are R218.38. Check how many sides and sauces accompany them. Shell-on prawns take more time to eat and create waste that is not present in a boneless chicken portion.

Planning a dinner for two

Two quarter chicken mains total R263.52 on the Gateway delivery menu before sides and fees. One quarter chicken and one plain hake total R289.14. Two quarter-chicken-and-prawn combos total R500.20. The change between those examples reflects a move from single-protein mains to mixed seafood orders.

The Seafood Platter for 2 is R559.98, while the mixed Sharing Platter for 2 is R671.00. These give an easy shared structure when both diners want most of the listed food. They are less suitable when one diner avoids shellfish or dislikes several components.

Include drinks and delivery fees in the actual basket. At a dine-in table, allow for the current restaurant menu and any tip. A delivery example cannot provide a reliable national restaurant bill.

Planning for four people

Two Seafood Platters for 2 would list at R1,119.96 on the Gateway delivery menu before drinks and charges. That gives each pair a platter designed for two. One seafood platter plus two quarter chicken mains would list at R823.50. This might fit a group with two seafood lovers and two chicken eaters, subject to sides.

Two full chickens would total R778.36 in the selected delivery examples. That is a very different meal from two seafood platters, so the lower price does not make it the better choice for a group expecting prawns. Add sides and sauces according to the live description.

With four diners, ask about allergies and spice preferences before ordering one large shared dish. Separate mains can be easier when needs differ. If everybody agrees on the proteins, a platter or full chicken may simplify the order.

Delivery versus eating at Mozambik

Mozambik's delivery menu is useful for planning and collection, but a restaurant visit has a different experience. Grilled fish and prawns are best eaten soon after cooking. Chips and fried calamari can lose crispness in transit, and sauce can move around a container.

For delivery, select the correct branch and review the final basket. Check sauces, side choices, delivery fee and service fee. The Gateway listing displayed “delivery unavailable” during one check even while menu prices were visible, which shows that a menu page is not proof that ordering is open at that moment.

For dine-in, ask for the menu at your table. The platform amounts can be useful as a sense of scale, but the branch's current restaurant price and any promotions decide the actual charge.

Allergens and practical food questions

Prawns, squid, calamari and some platters contain shellfish or other seafood. Rissoles can contain wheat, egg, dairy or other ingredients depending on filling and coating. Halloumi contains dairy. Sauces and curries can have ingredients that are not obvious from their names.

Tell the branch about an allergy before ordering, particularly when a mixed seafood and chicken kitchen is involved. Removing a visible prawn from a platter does not make the rest safe for a shellfish allergy. Ask about shared equipment and current allergen information.

Vegetarian customers should verify the curry, side and preparation. A vegetable label does not guarantee a vegan sauce or separate cooking surface. The chosen restaurant can answer questions that a general menu guide cannot.

How to find value without guessing

First compare like portions: quarter versus half chicken, or ten versus twenty medium prawns. The larger option may have a lower price per piece, but only helps when the table will eat it. Then compare combos by whether you want the added seafood and which side is included.

Next compare complete meals for the same people. Two individual mains can be cheaper than a platter, but a platter may give more variety and a different total portion. A starter can add a surprising amount when the mains are already large.

Finally, use the actual ordering screen. Branch menus and platform fees can change faster than a guide. A dated example should help you understand options, not replace the final checkout.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Mozambik quarter chicken?

The checked Mozambik Gateway delivery listing showed plain quarter chicken at R131.76. BBQ-basted and dry-rub quarter chicken examples were R119.56, while a Zambeziana quarter was R143.96. Confirm the variant and current branch price.

How much is chicken with prawns?

A quarter chicken with six medium prawns was R250.10 and a half chicken with six medium prawns R340.38 at the checked Gateway delivery branch. Other branches and dine-in prices may differ.

How much is the seafood platter for two?

The Gateway delivery example was R559.98 before fees and drinks. It listed calamari, ten medium prawns, grilled hake and fried squid heads. Check the live description before ordering.

Is there a meal without seafood?

The menu includes chicken and meat choices, including plain chicken portions, espetadas and some curries. A seafood allergy still requires a direct conversation with the restaurant about shared preparation.

Are the prices the same at every Mozambik?

These prices come from a named delivery branch in September 2026. Other branch listings and restaurant menus can differ. Use the selected location and order channel for the final amount.

Choose the dish you actually want

Start with chicken, fish or seafood, then decide whether one protein or a combo makes sense. For two people who like most seafood, compare the platter with two individual mains. For a group, count portions and sides before buying the biggest dish.

The old imported article mixed older prices and conflicting menu rows. This guide replaces them with dated, branch-specific examples. The Gateway delivery page may change, so confirm current availability and checkout before relying on any exact amount.
